Web services: costs

The following is a guide to costs applicable in August2007. Prices are subject to change without notice. Every website has different requirements, so these prices are for rough guidance only. A firm quote can be given when the full content and requirements for a site have been seen.

Complete site
Includes hosting, UK domain name, site building, search engine optimisation, activation of webspace, all site admin and testing.
Prices from about £400 for a basic five-page small business site.

Site maintenance/management
Dependent on the size and nature of the site and the frequency of changes to be made. Email with details for a quote.

Hosting
Acquiring hosting, including the admin, on a basic package that provides 100MB of space with unmetered bandwidth on a Linux server, installed cgi scripts, anti-spam and anti-virus protection and a UK domain name (or transfer in of an existing domain name*) will cost from approximately £90, with a recurring annual hosting fee of approximately £15.
A range of hosting options with additional features is available, up to a fully featured e-commerce site, including a UK or US domain name, 2000MB of space, 25 sub-domains, unlimited bandwidth, shopping cart and password-protected directories which would cost approximately £400 for initial set-up, with a recurring annual hosting fee of about £105.
*Note: when a domain name is transferred in, the client is responsible for any fees the existing IPSTAG holder may charge for releasing the name.

Domain names
For those who want a domain name without a site or hosting, these can be supplied with free parking, redirection to the server of your choice or web, email redirection set up and registration authority fees paid. Set-up costs range from £25 for a .co.uk or .org.uk domain name to £30 for .com, .net, .biz, .info and .org and £50 for a .eu, uk.com, .uk.net, .gb.com or.gb.net name. In addition there will be an annual registration fee ranging from £5 or so (.co.uk names) to approx £26 (.eu).
