Writing
I have particular expertise in the areas of reporting mechanical and automotive engineering, technology, business and personal finance. I also have acquired an in-depth knowledge that enables me to write about type-one diabetes and related medical issues.
Now working as a sub-editor for IHS, I am a former chief sub-editor on top trade publications The Engineer and Money Week, I am now freelance, with experience on titles ranging from Estates Times and Automotive Engineer to The Sunday Times and The Independent.
I have produced complete supplements and brochures on subjects ranging from personal finance to machine tools. This can, if required, include sourcing high-quality editorial material and pictures. If necessary on a particular project, I can create and manage an editorial team of experienced journalists and designers.
I am equally at home working on internet publications or sites, being an experienced web designer.
As a freelance for 17 years I worked for a range of clients whose requirements ranged from copy and layout subbing to complete editorial solutions – delivery of camera-ready pages from raw copy.
In response to requests from some readers, I have retained several of my "basics" guides. They can be downloaded as pdf files by clicking the links below.
